Remember, the new provisions in our dig law were effective June 7, 2026. A few things to remember are:

Locate-By Times move to within 48 hours, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and legal federal or state holidays (such 48-hour period beginning at 12:00 a.m. of the day following receipt of the notification by the one-call system).

The 48-hour period for required action may be waived if the excavator and operator mutually agree to an extended response time, which mutual agreement shall be confirmed in writing or by electronic record.

The board shall have the power and authority to investigate damage to underground
WVDPB approves the design for a new look website.
Be on the lookout for a rebranded look for WVDPB. Creating a new logo and a more user-friendly website is the goal of the WVDPB. Raising awareness for damage prevention and public safety is the driving force behind the change. Expect to see the changes take place between June 1 and June 15.
West Virginia 811 Excavator Manual 2026 is hot off the press!
Along with a host of sponsors including Appalachian Power, APEX Pipeline Services, Inc., BUXUS, Cardinal Natural Gas, Contractors Association of West Virginia, Diversified Energy, Dow, Eastern Gas Transmission and Storage, Hope Gas, Mountaineer Gas Company, S&N Infrastructure, UDP, Utility Pipeline and Williams, West Virginia 811 has reprinted their Excavator Manual and the new manual includes the amendments to the dig law that will impact all stakeholders in West Virginia.
