Summertime in Mississippi is not only hot and stormy, but exciting. We strive daily to make Damage Prevention our top priority and follow through with the many solutions we come up with to make Mississippi a better place to live and work. This Summer is no different. July 1st brought on new law changes in the Magnolia State and I would like to take a minute to explain the process and share with you the new changes.
The Mississippi Damage Prevention Committee has logged many hours working diligently on discussing and approving the many changes that went into effect on July 1st. This committee, which is comprised of 811 memberships, meets three times in different parts of the state beginning in July of the previous year to discuss the needs of the excavation world and what they believe to be items that will make our State better when it comes to Damage Prevention and Safety. After these meetings, we have one final meeting to put all of these suggestions, ideas and proposals together with the help of Roger Cox and Sandy Sanford, and the first draft takes shape. After proofreading, editing, and deletions and additions we end up with a final draft that is submitted to the legislative process by Mr. Sandy Sanford. Sandy spends countless hours at the State Capital making sure that all the MDPC Committee’s hard work is presented.
