Advancing Damage Prevention in Mississippi, Reflecting on Progress and Looking Ahead
As 2026 approaches, it’s a fitting moment to pause and reflect on our collective journey toward advancing damage prevention in Mississippi. The progress we’ve made this year is not just a testament to everyone’s dedication but also a clear indication of the collaborative spirit that defines our industry.
This year has been marked by noteworthy achievements, primarily driven by all of you who voiced your concerns and recommendations for new legislation aimed at enhancing safety and accountability in our practices. These legislative changes serve as a foundation for more effective damage prevention strategies and reflect our commitment to protecting our infrastructure and environment.
In addition to legislative advancements, the Damage Prevention Board has offered education and training. Throughout the state, we have successfully held locator and damage investigation training programs. These initiatives equip our members and excavators with the essential skills and knowledge needed to effectively prevent damage and respond to incidents when they occur. The feedback from participants has been positive, indicating a strong desire for continued learning and improvement in our field.
The Safety City Board is back up and running. Unfortunately, the excellent training area at the Mississippi Fire Academy has not been utilized in the past several years. We look forward to seeing it operational again in 2026.
As we look toward the new year, we are eager to collaborate with our members to further enhance our damage prevention initiatives. Through open dialogue and shared experiences, we can identify solutions that will strengthen our collective efforts. We will continue to focus on education, advocacy, and member engagement, ensuring that our strategies evolve to meet the challenges ahead.
As we close out the year, let’s carry this momentum forward. Together, we can continue to champion damage prevention in Mississippi, protecting our vital infrastructure one call at a time.
Looking forward to an inspiring new year full of opportunities and achievements!
